Earth Days @ the Manitoba Museum

Celebrate • Investigate • Initiate Change
Join us Saturday, April 20 & Sunday, April 21 for Earth Days @ the Manitoba Museum as we explore ways we can work together to combat climate change with special programming in the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery.
Discover different animals, their habitats and their vital roles in nature with a scavenger hunt through the Museum Galleries; get into the conservation game with a fun and educational board game where you’ll learn about the impact of plastics on our planet; and don’t forget to visit the Planetarium, where you’ll marvel at how satellites monitor the Earth’s changing climate. Let’s learn how to keep our planet healthy together.

Museum Galleries
Self-guided Earth Days Trail
10 am to 4 pm
Discover different animals, their habitats, and their vital roles in nature on a self-guided trail through the Museum Galleries. With your trail guide in hand, look for our numbered Earth Days icons hidden throughout the galleries; fill in the answer to the question at each stop to find the letters needed to complete the sentence. Don’t forget to enter your completed trail guide in a draw for a prize!
Earth Days Reflection Wall
10 am to 4 pm
As you celebrate Earth Day with us, consider our relationship to the Earth and how our everyday actions shape the world we live in. At the end of your Earth Days self-guided tour, pause and reflect at our Earth Day Reflection Wall and ask yourself:
What action will I take to keep our environment healthy? How do I want to see the future unfold?
Planetarium
We are Guardians

We Are Guardians is a highly immersive, leading-edge look at the role of satellites in orbit around Earth – how they monitor the effects of a changing climate, and how the information they provide will be crucial in our fight to reduce harmful emissions.
This program communicates the serious issue of climate change in a way that is more accessible to children. It is rated for ages 5 and up.
Atlas of a Changing Earth
12:15 pm & 3:00 pm
Using stunning, latest-generation imagery from space, Atlas of a Changing Earth takes viewers into the dynamic processes causing coastal glaciers in Greenland and Antarctica to melt and explores how rising seas could threaten coastlines the world over.

Planet vs Plastics Board Game

Have you ever wondered how much a single piece of plastic can affect our planet? Join us for a fun and educational board game adventure to find out how to help our environment! Created by the Manitoba Museum’s Youth Climate Alliance.
