Manitoba Nature

Studying Manitoba’s natural history can provide important clues for our future, especially about the effects of climate change and how our native plant and animal species will respond to a new environment.

The research conducted by our natural history curators, who work in the disciplines of botany, zoology, and palaeontology-geology, helps us understand where we came from, how we got here, and how our actions effect our planet.

The Museum’s Natural History collections are developed and maintained as a specimen library of plants, animals, fossils, rocks, and minerals. Specimens are used for reference and research, in public and school programs, and in exhibitions.
