And, put your sleuthing skills to the test as you roam the Museum Galleries in search of hidden miniature bison herds in our Bison on the Move Scavenger Hunt.
Set sail for adventure in the Science Gallery as you design and build your own wind-powered boat! Will your ship sink, run aground, or sail to victory?

Bison on the Move: Scavenger Hunt
Daily 10:00 to 4:00 pm
Miniature herds of bison are roaming through the Manitoba Museum using various modes of transport. Help us find them all! Pick up your free scavenger hunt in the Welcome Gallery, next to the Bison Diorama.

Amazing Archaeology
Mondays and Thursdays, from 1 to 4 pm, in the Prairies Gallery
Become a detective of Manitoba’s past and examine evidence left behind by people who lived in different historical periods – including tools made thousands of years ago! You’ll get hands-on with artifacts to learn the methods used by archaeologists.
This drop-in activity features sorting games and a scavenger hunt.
Fantastic Fossils
Tuesdays and Fridays, from 1 to 4 pm, in the Earth History Gallery
Step back in time – way back. Get up close to skulls from Ice Age giants like the sabre-toothed cat and touch a real woolly mammoth tooth! You’ll learn about fossils from different geologic periods and be able to compare them to animals from today.
This drop-in activity features a hands-on sand pit where you can dig for dinosaur fossils.
Whale of a Time
Wednesdays and Sundays, from 1 to 4 pm, in the Nonsuch Gallery
Dive into the icy depths of the Hudson Bay and learn un-whale-ievable facts about whales’ biology, their habitats, and threats to their survival.
This drop-in activity features a scavenger hunt and a hands-on experiment where you’ll learn how whales have adapted to life in cold water.
Awesome Arctic Adventures
Saturdays, from 1 to 4 pm, in the Arctic/Sub-Arctic Gallery
Play it cool with our afternoon of Awesome Arctic Adventures. You’ll learn about northern wildlife, examine artifacts, and play traditional Inuit games.
This drop-in activity features a ring and pin game craft that you can make here and play at home.

Tuesdays, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, in the Arctic/Sub-Arctic Gallery
Join Parks Canada as we take a closer look at a beadwork technique seen in many Indigenous beaded pieces throughout Manitoba. Then, come discover the differences between various Indigenous languages spoken in Treaty 1 territory in a fun matching game featuring animal names in Plains Cree, Anishinaabemowin, and Michif.

Voyage of the Stars
This family-friendly adventure follows two “stars” – starfish Astéria and shooting star Stella – as they embark on an exciting quest under the oceans. Learn how exploring space and exploring the oceans are similar and see authentic underwater visuals that will enchant audiences of all ages.
Geared toward families with children under 12, but good for all ages.
Running time: 40 minutes
Aurorae
The aurorae, or northern lights, are one of the most beautiful and mysterious sights in the night sky. Join us on an expedition to the Northwest Territories in northern Canada to see these shimmering curtains of light under pristine dark skies.
Appropriate for all ages.
Running time: 25 minutes
The Milky Way – LIVE
Take a guided tour of our Milky Way galaxy, from our Sun’s location in the “suburbs” to the supermassive black hole at the center of “downtown”. Discover your place in space and find out what celestial sights you can see over the summer. Presented live by Planetarium staff with time for audience questions at the end.
Recommended for ages 10+.

Every exhibit in the Science Gallery is yours to touch, feel, and interact with as a scientist, engineer, or wide-eyed explorer. Play with illusions, test the laws of gravity, or dive into our one-of-a-kind Lake Winnipeg simulator. Hands-on, interactive learning will spark your imagination and challenge your mind.
Set Sail… With Science!
Daily, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, in the Explore Science Zone
Set sail on a maker adventure this summer in the Explore Science Zone! Design and build your own wind-powered boat using simple craft materials, then race it through our Pirate Treasure canal. Will your ship sink, run aground, or sail to victory? Test, redesign, and discover the science and engineering of wind, motion, buoyancy and fluid dynamics along the way!
