Welcome to the Manitoba Museum!
As you embark on your journey through our immersive galleries and interactive exhibits, we kindly ask you to adhere to the following code of conduct to ensure a positive experience for all visitors, staff, and volunteers:
1. Respect for Fellow Visitors, Museum Staff, and Volunteers
Please maintain a courteous and respectful demeanor towards everyone in the Museum. Personal attacks, including abusive, aggressive, harassing, or threatening behaviour, including comments, gestures, and physical contact will not be tolerated.
2. Respect for Galleries and Exhibits:
Our exhibits are here for your enjoyment and education for years to come. Please do not touch, climb, or lean on the displays unless explicitly permitted. This helps preserve the integrity of the exhibits for you and for future visitors.
3. Age Requirement for Unaccompanied Children:
For the safety and well-being of our younger visitors, all children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
4. Service Animals:
We welcome registered service animals trained as aids accompanying individuals with disabilities to visit any area of the Museum. Personal pets or animals that are not trained to assist with an individual’s accessibility-related needs will not be allowed entry into the Museum.
5. No Eating or Drinking in Galleries:
To ensure the continued preservation of our collections and to maintain the cleanliness of the Museum, eating or drinking is not permitted in any of the gallery and exhibition areas. Please use designated areas for consuming food and beverages.
6. Photography:
Non-Flash photography is permitted at the Manitoba Museum for personal use only. Please use cameras and mobile phones with respect for other Museum visitors, our staff, and volunteers. Selfie sticks and tripods are not permitted.
7. Responsibility:
As responsible stewards of public trust and institutional assets, we are committed to being socially and environmentally responsible. We ask that you help us in this endeavor by disposing of waste properly, recycling when possible, and respecting the Museum’s spaces, galleries, and exhibitions.
8. Inclusivity:
We encourage diversity and dialogue and are committed to creating an environment that is welcoming for all, and one that promotes inclusivity, equity, and belonging. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
Note: All persons entering the Manitoba Museum are subject to video surveillance. Be aware that a secure, closed circuit television system is operating throughout the Museum for the safety and protection of the visitors, staff, volunteers, collections, and property.
Other behaviour guidelines include:
- Please follow guidance from Museum staff and volunteers.
- Please respect all safety signs and barriers.
- Smoking and vaping are prohibited in all galleries.
- Do not run in the galleries.
- Do not use selfie-sticks in the galleries.
- Do not block entrance doors.
- Do not tamper with fire-and life-safety devices, such as fire extinguishers or alarm pull stations.
- Do not sell, distribute, or post unauthorized materials.
Anyone found to be in violation of any of these regulations can be refused admission to the Museum, be asked to leave, or be escorted from the Museum premises.
