An infant’s social understanding starts at home and expands as they explore the world. These interactions significantly influence how and what children learn.
This program helps Museum Babies shape their knowledge and understanding of the world through sensory experiences, play, and exploration. Museum Babies learn by interacting with and manipulating objects from the Museum’s Education Collection.
Museum Babies focus on different themes when they visit each week, enjoying hands-on activities, creating take-home crafts, and singing songs and nursery rhymes. After the program, everyone is welcome to explore the Museum Galleries for as long as they like.
February 5 – Sold Out – PLAY: Museum Babies explore our collection of historical toys, developing imagination, concentration, self-confidence, and sociability skills
February 12 – Sold Out – ANIMALS: A whole new world of wonder opens up as Museum Babies encounter animals from our collection.
February 19 – Sold Out – SOUNDS: Museum Babies take in information about the world around them experiencing everyday noises and sounds found in nature.
February 26 – Sold Out – COLOURS: Colour captures the attention of Museum Babies as they discover some of the most treasured, brightly decorated items in our collection.
Each visit includes some classroom time where we sing songs and do hands-on activities, as well as Museum Gallery sensory experiences. Though this program is designed for babies aged 6 to 12 months (sitting but pre-walking stage), walking babies are also encouraged to participate.
