The Manitoba Museum is excited to partner with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to present our First Fridays programming! Join us on the First Friday of every month from 4 pm to 9 pm for free general admission to our three core attractions – the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery. No ticket is required for First Friday programming unless otherwise specified.

Discovery Room & Welcome Gallery – 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Featuring objects representing the 34 Southern Chiefs’ Organization member Nations, this exhibition is a celebration of the past, present, and future. The objects on display exemplify the beauty and resilience of the Anishinaabe and Dakota peoples and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Southern Chiefs’ Organization.
Explore Science Zone – 30-minute demonstrations starting at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm
Simon the Scientist is a 12-year-old Cree boy who is obsessed with science. Simon wants kids around the world to be able to learn science and thinks that learning from another kid makes it easier to understand and more fun. Simon will be conducting two 30-minute programs in the Science Gallery’s Explore Science Zone. Seating is first come, first served.
Flight – 5:30 pm
Join Simon in learning about flight. This hands-on show will explore the three dimensions of movement, the center of gravity, and the four principles of flight. Be ready for some flying fun!
Chemistry in Action – 6:30 pm
Join Simon as he explains our relationship with chemistry. This exciting show will explore the reactions that elements can have together. Get ready to react to SCIENCE!
Explore Science Zone – 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Come visit researchers from the University of Winnipeg Child Development Labs! Children ages 3-7 years old are welcome to participate in our research exploring how children reason about counterintuitive events. Learn more about our on-campus studies exploring how children’s developing brains learn about math and numbers. All children are welcome to play math games and learn about science!
Earth History Gallery – 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Have you ever wondered how children’s minds work? Visit University of Manitoba researchers at their Living Laboratory in the Earth History Gallery. The Living Laboratory is an educational research experience where visitors of all ages can learn about the development of the human mind by participating in fun hands-on research studies and games.
Science Gallery, 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Test the universal laws of science and explore the wonders of technology and illusion in the Science Gallery. Learn about yourself and the world around you through entertaining hands-on activities where you become the scientist. Check out fan favourites such as the Matrix (mirror room), the pulley chairs, and the racetrack!
Planetarium, 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Sky Stories – Discover the stories in the stars: constellations, planets, and more!
Shows run every half hour beginning at 4:30 pm. Last show at 8:30 pm.
