The Manitoba Museum is excited to partner with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to present our First Fridays programming! Join us on the First Friday of every month from 4 pm to 9 pm for free general admission to our three core attractions – the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery. No ticket is required for First Friday programming unless otherwise specified.

Museum Galleries

Museum Galleries – 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

An older adult and a child look through the window of an immersive exhibit set up as an 1920s taxidermist.Take a journey through nine immersive Museum Galleries that tell the human and natural history of Manitoba from north to south, from ancient to contemporary times. Visit Winnipeg in the 1920s and explore our newest storefronts: E.W. Darbey Taxidermist and the A. and M. Hurtig Furrier Shop. Or prowl into the Upper Parklands Gallery to see eye to eye with Manitoba’s Big Cat: The Cougar in our newest permanent exhibit.

Guest Scientists: Living Laboratory

Earth History Gallery4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

A student researcher going through a study activity with a child in the Explore Science Zone.Have you ever wondered how children’s minds work? Visit University of Manitoba researchers at their Living Laboratory in the Earth History Gallery. The Living Laboratory is an educational research experience where visitors of all ages can learn about the development of the human mind by participating in fun hands-on research studies and games.

 

 

 

 

 

Science Gallery

Guest Scientists: Child Thinking and Reasoning Lab

Explore Science Zone – 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Come visit researchers from the University of Winnipeg Child Development Labs! Visitors ages 3-7 years old are welcome to participate in our research exploring how children reason about counterintuitive events. Learn more about our on-campus studies exploring how children’s developing brains learn about math and numbers. All children are welcome to play math games and learn about science! 

 

Hands-on Fun in the Science Gallery

Science Gallery – 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Learn about yourself and the world around you through entertaining hands-on activities where you become the scientist.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Planetarium

Planetarium, 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Celebrate International Astronomy Day with a guided tour of the night sky! Manitoba Skies runs every half hour beginning at 4:30 pm. Last show starts at 8:30 pm.
