We appreciate your interest in preserving Manitoba’s human, natural, and scientific heritage! The Manitoba Museum is committed to preserving the human, natural, and scientific heritage of Manitoba for present and future generations. Additions to the collection are regularly received through generous donations and bequests.
Potential donations go through a formal approval process. They are first reviewed by a curator, who makes a recommendation to the Museum’s Collection Committee. The Committee meets regularly to review the curators’ recommendations. It considers a number of criteria such as the historic value of an item, its condition, and its relevance to the Museum’s mandate, guided in this task by the Museum’s Vision, Mission, & Values and Museum Collection Policy, and Operational Procedures.
If an offer is accepted, the donor transfers his/her ownership in the object to the Museum. Please consider making a monetary donation to accompany your object donation. This will help us provide the best level of care and storage for your donated item to ensure its preservation.
