Collections Technician – Archaeology

Sonya Hauri-Thiessen began working in the museum world in 1999 at the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach, Manitoba. She graduated with a BA in Anthropology from the University of Manitoba in 2003 with a special interest in zooarchaeology. Her work as an archaeologist over the years has included contracts with the University of Manitoba, Manitoba Historic Resources Branch, Quaternary Consultants, the Museum of Ontario Archaeology, and the Manitoba Museum. She is currently the Collections Technician in the Archaeology Department and is passionate about caring for the 2.5 million archaeological artifacts housed at the Museum.
