The Manitoba Museum is excited to partner with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to present our First Fridays programming! Join us on the First Friday of every month from 4 pm to 9 pm for free general admission to our three core attractions – the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery. No ticket is required for First Friday programming unless otherwise specified.

Friday, June 7:

If These Walls Could Talk: 50 years of 2SLGBTQ+ Activism in Winnipeg

If These Walls Could Talk, a temporary exhibition in the Urban Corridor which was produced in partnership with the Rainbow Resource Centre, explores the history of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Winnipeg from 1970 until the 2010s. This period of activism after the decriminalization of homosexuality in 1969 covers campaigns such as coming out (1970s), HIV/AIDS information (1980s), marriage and adoption rights (1990s and 2000s), protection for gender diversity (2010s), and more. 

This exhibit is closing June 23 – see it before it is gone!


Museum Galleries – Winnipeg Gallery Theatre

In honour of Pride, we’ll be showing the full-length Rainbow Resource Centre’s 50th Anniversary Documentary from the If These Walls Could Talk exhibit in the comfort of the Winnipeg Gallery Theatre.

24 minutes playing on a loop, alternating with the Winnipeg Timeline Film (9 minutes)

Come colour and create your own Manitoba Museum button to take home! Head over to the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries table to check out the possibilities. 



Hands-on Fun in the Science Gallery

Science Gallery, 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Learn about yourself and the world around you through entertaining hands-on activities where you become the scientist. Check out fan favourites such as the Matrix (mirror room), the pulley chairs, and the racetrack!






Guest Scientists: Living Laboratory

Science Gallery – Explore Science Zone, 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Visit University of Manitoba researchers at their Living Laboratory in the Science Gallery. The Living Laboratory is an educational research experience where visitors of all ages can learn about the development of the human mind by participating in fun hands-on research studies and games.
