The Manitoba Museum is excited to partner with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to present our First Fridays programming! Join us on the First Friday of every month from 4 pm to 9 pm for free general admission to our three core attractions – the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery. No ticket is required for First Friday programming unless otherwise specified.

Friday, May 3:

Celebrate Asian Heritage Month! Join us in the Planetarium for sky stories from across Asia, and in the Winnipeg Gallery Theatre for a series of short films telling stories of the Ong family, who recently donated to the Museum. 


Stories from the Collection – The Ong Family Collection 

Winnipeg Gallery Theatre, 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm – Videos played in a continuous loop

Over multiple generations, the Ong family migrated from Mainland China to Hong Kong and Canada. Discover their stories through fascinating artifacts, photographs, and documents.

Manidoo Miiniigooizowin, A Gift from the Creator

Planetarium, 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm

In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, explore the constellations and sky stories from China, India, Japan, and Korea. Shows run every half hour beginning at 4:30 pm. Last show starts at 8:30 pm.  





Hands-on Fun in the Science Gallery

Science Gallery, 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Learn about yourself and the world around you through entertaining hands-on activities where you become the scientist. Check out fan favourites such as the Matrix (mirror room), the pulley chairs, and the racetrack!






Guest Scientists: Living Laboratory

Science Gallery – Explore Science Zone, 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm

A student researcher going through a study activity with a child in the Explore Science Zone.Ever wondered how children’s minds work? Visit University of Manitoba researchers at their Living Laboratory in the Science Gallery. The Living Laboratory is an educational research experience where visitors of all ages can learn about the development of the human mind by participating in fun hands-on research studies and games.
