An event every month that begins at 4:00 pm on day First of the month, repeating until June 2, 2023

The Manitoba Museum is excited to partner with Manitoba Liquor Marts to present our First Fridays programming! Join us on the First Friday of every month from 4 pm to 9 pm for free general admission to our three core attractions – the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery. No ticket is required for First Friday programming unless otherwise specified.

We are so excited to be partnering with Black History Manitoba to celebrate Black History Month! We will be joined by Black-owned businesses, Black-led organizations, and other supporters of Black History Manitoba for a FREE evening of entertainment, food and drink, a marketplace, and pop-up booths and exhibits.

Join us from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm for exciting activities throughout the Museum Galleries, Alloway Hall, the Planetarium, and the Science Gallery!

No tickets required, free admission.

In the Planetarium

Join us in the Planetarium at 6:30 pm, 7:45 pm and 8:30 pm for “The Journey of Sights and Sound” where the ANANSI School for the Performing Arts will be performing ‘Hlohonolofatsa’ (by the Soweto Gospel Choir). This word from the Sesotho language means ‘blessing’ and it is always a blessing for us to perform and share dance with others.

ANANSI School for the Performing Arts is in its 14th season and is focused on teaching children and youth about Caribbean and African culture through the arts.  The performers, aged 6-16, have performed at Folklorama and other community events. The group also hosts a yearly show called “Shine Your Light” coming in March 2023!

Join us in the Nonsuch Gallery for a pop-up performance by talented students from the Desautels Faculty of Music, University of Manitoba.

Hands-on Fun in the Science Gallery

Test the universal laws of science and explore the wonders of technology and illusion in Science Gallery. Learn about yourself and the world around you through entertaining hands-on activities where you become the scientist. Check out fan favourites such as the Matrix (mirror room), the pulley chairs, and the race track!

GUEST SCIENTISTS: Living Laboratory 

Have you ever wondered how children’s minds work? Visit University of Manitoba researchers at their Living Laboratory in the Science Gallery. The Living Laboratory is an educational research experience where visitors of all ages can learn about the development of the human mind by participating in fun hands-on research studies and games. 

Science Gallery – Explore Science Zone, 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm
