The Manitoba Museum is excited to be part of the First Fridays community! Join us on the First Friday of every month from 5 pm to 9 pm for free general admission to our three core attractions – the Museum Galleries, the Planetarium, and the Science Gallery. No ticket is required for First Friday programming unless otherwise specified.
Please note: Ultimate Dinosaurs will be open on First Friday evenings, but will not be free. Regular admission applies.

Guided Tour:
Eat, Drink, and Be Merry: Food and Drink Through the Ages
Join us in a free, 30-minute guided tour that explores the history of food and drink in our province! Find out what the sailors ate and drank aboard the Nonsuch back in 1668, get to know Manitoba’s first farmers, and visit the Labour Café, where free meals were served during the Winnipeg General Strike of 1919.
Meet by the Bison Diorama in the Museum Galleries, 6:30 pm / 7:30 pm

This fun, family-friendly Planetarium show is an exciting journey through time to discover the incredible variety of dinosaurs that ruled our planet’s past. Celeste, a young girl fascinated by dinosaurs, travels with her wise and magical friend Moon on an amazing adventure and learns that not all dinosaurs went extinct…
Live in the Sky:

Take a guided tour of Manitoba’s night sky. This live show highlights the constellations, planets, and celestial events that you can see on clear evenings, and answers your space questions.
Pop-Up on the Plaza: Royal Astronomical Society of Canada
See the Moon up close through a telescope, and safely view the Sun! Volunteers from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada’s Winnipeg Centre will be on hand around the Planetarium dome on the Museum Plaza from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Weather permitting – in case of clouds, this activity will be cancelled.
Hands-on Fun in the Science Gallery
Test the universal laws of science and explore the wonders of technology and illusion in Science Gallery. Learn about yourself and the world around you through entertaining hands-on activities where you become the scientist. Check out fan favourites such as the Matrix (mirror room), the pulley chairs, and the race track!

Oceans ALIVE! in the Explore Science Zone
Dive into this hands-on workshop, developed by the Canadian Museum of Nature and Ingenium to promote the importance of aquatic health throughout Canada. Visitors will have the opportunity to program a RiverBot (line tracking robot) to gobble up plastic garbage in a river; use handheld microscopes to investigate aquatic organisms and microplastics samples up close; and then test their knowledge with our water trivia game.
