The Fungus Among Us: Manitoba’s Fungal Diversity
By Diana Bizecki Robson, Curator of Botany
Would you like to pick and eat wild mushrooms? Have you ever wondered what that thing growing on the stump in your yard was? Well this is your opportunity to get the answers to all your fungus-related questions! Manitoba is home to an amazing diversity of fungi – there are at least 2800 species in our province. In this presentation you will learn the basics of fungal identification, as well as how to safely collect and eat wild fungi without risking a trip to the ER for a liver transplant. Dr. Diana Robson, the Museum’s Curator of Botany, knows how to put the “fun” in “fungus”!
