Join us Saturday, April 18 & Sunday, April 19 for Earth Days @ the Manitoba Museum for special programming which explores the important role water and ice play in life on Earth – influencing climate, shaping the lands, and sustaining and challenging people, plants, and animals.
Discover how ice and water shape our landscape and affect all life on Earth on a self-guided Explorer Trail through the Museum Galleries; join us in the Science Gallery for some hands-on learning about water and find out different ways you can take better care of our planet; and don’t forget to visit the Planetarium, where you will journey through space and time to examine life as an essential quality of our home planet in our newest planetarium show, Living Worlds. Let’s learn how to keep our planet healthy together.

Self-Guided Earth Days Trail
Pick up a guide and follow the Earth Days Trail through the Museum Galleries, leading you to discover special videos and exhibit content you may not have noticed before. Stops along the Trail highlight the power of water and ice to shape our landscape, create habitats, influence our climate, and sustain and challenge Manitoba plants and animals.

The Lake Winnipeg Project: Poplar River
This film by Kevin Settee explores the special connection that Poplar River First Nation has to the lands and waters surrounding their community. Poplar River community members Sophia Rabliauskas and Clint Bittern share their perspectives on the importance and intergenerational responsibility of protecting the lands and waters in their territory for generations to come.

Imagine the ultimate space vacation! Discover our solar system through a new set of eyes – those of a family from another star system seeking the perfect vacation location. Students in the Planetarium will visit the planets of our solar system and fly over the surface of Pluto, sail through the rings of Saturn, walk on the surface of Mars. Which planet will your students choose as their favorite vacation spot?
Special showing for Earth Days only! Worlds of Ice
Special showing for Earth Day! Embark on a journey to the farthest reaches of the solar system, travelling through the many dimensions of ice—from the territories of the Arctic to a scientific complex nestled under the South Pole. Narrated by Beatrice Deer, this one-of-a-kind experience explores the two-way relationship between humans and ice.
Living Worlds
Earth is a planet shaped by life. From the forests that help stabilize our climate, to the winds carrying life-sustaining water and oxygen to far-flung parts of the globe, the fingerprints of life are visible even from many light years away. New Planetarium show, Living Worlds invites you to journey through space and time to examine life as an essential quality of our home planet. Narrator Daveed Diggs takes you on an exploration of the co-evolution of life and our planet, revealing the ways in which life has transformed Earth’s surface and atmosphere over billions of years. Along the way, you’ll see how light and color can help us spot a living world, even from great distances.
As we ponder what forms life might take in the Solar System and beyond, Living Worlds encourages us to consider how a deeper understanding of our own planet can aid in the search for life across the cosmos, and to reflect on ways we can partner with our living world to ensure our continued survival.
Science Gallery
Learn about yourself and the world around you through entertaining hands-on activities where you become the scientist. Visit the Explore Science Zone to get hands-on with water-focused activities and learn how you can make a difference for our Earth. Spend some time with our Lake Winnipeg simulator game to learn about the impact humans have had on the diverse ecosystem of the Lake Winnipeg watershed and then test your ability to initiate change.
Be A Climate Hero: Ocean Adventure!
Saturday April 18 ONLY from 1 pm to 4 pm, Explore Science Zone
Dive into some hands-on science with the Climate Hero pop-up workshop! Discover how the oceans act as the Earth’s lungs and thermostat – and what happens when things heat up. Conduct surprising experiments on ocean warming and acidification and learn how even small actions can make big waves for our planet. Come explore the science behind a changing climate!

Sunday April 19 ONLY from 11 am to 3 pm, Explore Science Zone
In this interactive, hands-on watershed workshop, you’ll watch water come to life as it moves across the land – carrying everything with it. See how pollution travels, how storms and climate change intensify the impact, and how our everyday choices shape the health of our waterways.
Can you spot the problems before they spread? More importantly – can you be part of the solution to protect our watershed?
