Lifting Fingerprints

thumbprintNever has a crime been committed when no evidence has been left behind. All criminals leave evidence at the crime scene and take evidence away with them.

Try this at home. You will need:

  • Large ziplock bag
  • Tube of superglue
  • Drinking glass

Here’s what to do”

  1. Place the glass into the bag. Make sure you touch the surface using the pads of your fingers.
  2. Lay the bag flat on the counter and squeeze a few drops of glue into the bag. Be careful not to get glue on your skin. Do not glue the glass to the bag.
  3. Seal the bag tight.

Here’s what happens”

The vapours from the superglue will build up in the bag and crystallize on the fingerprints. A day later, you will see starchy white fingerprints on the surface of the glass.
