Winnipeg, MB (February 9, 2017): Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation, the Manitoba Museum opens a new temporary exhibit today entitled, Legacies of Confederation: A New Look at Manitoba History. Though Manitoba was not yet a province in 1867, the effects of Confederation on the Red River residents when their homeland was acquired by Canada were momentous. The Legacies of Confederation exhibit illustrates the massive consequences for the people and the irrevocable changes to their land – the land that became Manitoba. Winnipeg, MB (February 1, 2017):  BMO Financial Group is supporting the Bringing Our Stories Forward Capital & Endowment Campaign with a generous donation of $250,000. The year 2020 is going to be a landmark year in Manitoba as three major anniversaries are recognized – Manitoba Museum’s 50th, the province’s 150th, and HBC’s 350th. In preparation for this big event, the Manitoba Museum is renewing 42% of its galleries including the Urban Gallery, which features a component of an original 1880s Bank of Montreal building. Winnipeg, MB (January 13, 2017):  The Manitoba Museum has selected the Manitoba-based company Bockstael Construction as the general contractor, with AldrichPears Associates (APA), based in Vancouver, as the project lead for the Museum’s Gallery Renewal Project, Bringing Our Stories Forward. The $19 million project will see close to half of the Museum’s galleries undergo staged renewal over three years. Its 2020 end date will coincide with three other landmark anniversaries: the Province of Manitoba’s 150th, the Hudson’s Bay Company’s 350th, and the Manitoba Museum’s 50th.
