YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
In March of 2012, The Manitoba Museum Board of Governors approved the establishment of the New Exhibition Fund (NEF); a $1 contribution per transaction dedicated exclusively to support the development of new exhibits in the Museum Galleries, Science Gallery and Planetarium.
Creating new exhibitions take time, and money. Our curators conduct research throughout the Province, which in time makes its way to our Galleries in the form of new exhibitions, such as “Lake Winnipeg Shared Solutions”. Our science educators also work diligently to create new hands-on activities and experiences.
Excluding staff time, the cost of developing new exhibits is approximately $400 per square feet, or $4,304 per square metre. Many grants available to us require “matching funds”, and this New Exhibition Fund will allow us to leverage your contribution to create better exhibitions.
As of March 31, 2014 the New Exhibition Fund has $65,000
We have used the NEF for the following projects:
- Lake Winnipeg Shared Solutions: improvements to the live ecosystem tank
- Ancient Seas exhibit: full replacement of projectors
