Winnipeg, MB (January 23, 2019): You think humans go through a lot for love? Some animals go through considerably more trouble than a puff of perfume or a dab of hair gel – imagine growing an extra 35 kg of headgear, going without food for two weeks, or engaging in life-threatening battles!
Come and see how it’s done in nature at the Manitoba Museum on Valentine’s Day. At Wild Romance, you’ll see that humans aren’t the only ones who enjoy date night. This fun-filled science-based evening is perfect for groups of friends, couples, or singles looking (or not looking) for love! This After Hours event takes place on February 14 from 6 to 11 pm. General admission is $15 and $12 for members.
After Hours: Wild Romance includes tango lessons, a pop-up talk on all things “horn”-y (and antler-y) by the Curator of Zoology, and the Museum’s first ever “Animal Mating Ritual Dance-Off.” Your Valentine’s Day experience includes a Pollinator “Dating Game” Scavenger Hunt through the Museum Galleries and a talk by the Curator of Botany entitled, Plants Just Wanna Have Sex.
Kids’ Night Out Valentine’s Party
While Wild Romance is happening upstairs, downstairs the kids will be taking over the Science Gallery for a Kids’ Night Out Valentine’s Party exploring the science of attraction and repulsion! Kids will enjoy interactive exhibitions in the Science Gallery, exciting science demonstrations in the Explore Science Zone, hands-on crafts, and a dance party. This event also takes place on February 14 between 6 pm and 11 pm and admission is $15 per kid and $12 for member kids.
Our Kids’ Night Supervisors will make sure your kids have a blast so that you can have the date night you deserve on Valentine’s Day! This event is open to kids ages 5 to12, and families are welcome.
