A drinking vessel popular in the 17th century (and beyond) for consuming ale and other fine beverages. Water was not considered safe to drink, so the consumption of ale and liquor was encouraged, even for kids! Drinking and sailing was not prohibited, and the sailors aboard the Nonsuch likely had tankards to fill after a long, cold day.
