Product Description

Who was John Dugald, the recipient of these lovely silk-embroidered caribou hide mittens? We believe they belonged to John Dugald McMurray, the son of HBC Chief Trader William McMurray who served at the HBC post at Île-à-la-Crosse Saskatchewan in the 1870s. This was also the location of a Grey Nuns’ Convent and the mittens may have been made by the nuns or one of their students.
