This doll was given by Walter Popiel to his granddaughter Dana. Walter was a carpenter who worked on the construction of the nursing station in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. When there was space on the plane, Popiel’s employer allowed him to bring toys for the children of the community at Christmas time. As a thank you, he was given several items, including mittens, slippers, and this doll, to take home for his special little girl.
