The Great Green Turbo is a large marine snail that occurs in tropical reefs from locations in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. This species is sexually dimorphic, meaning that the male and female differ from one another. They are nocturnal, hiding by day and feeding on algae at night. This specimen is from Australia, and has had its outer shell polished away to show its incredibly lustrous nacre, or ‘mother of pearl’ for which this species is known.
