Winnipeg, MB (April 16, 2019): Tickets are now on sale for an all-new exhibition that showcases the inner workings of animals – Dr. Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS: ANIMAL INSIDE OUT. Visitors will travel on an anatomical safari exploring a variety of animals from goats to giraffes, and octopuses to ostriches in BODY WORLDS: ANIMAL INSIDE OUT, opening Wednesday, April 17 (open for the Easter long weekend) at the Manitoba Museum.
“BODY WORLDS: ANIMAL INSIDE OUT is a fascinating approach to the study of animal anatomy,” said Claudette Leclerc, Executive Director & CEO of the Manitoba Museum. “We’re honoured to present an exhibition that speaks to the amazing complexity and variety seen in the animal world. It is an absolutely unique exploration of life on Earth.”
BODY WORLDS: ANIMAL INSIDE OUT offers visitors a unique opportunity to view animals from a rarely seen perspective, through skeletons, muscles, organs, circulatory systems, and more. Stripping away nature’s skin to the bare flesh and bones, ANIMAL INSIDE OUT features more than 100 plastinates including translucent slices, blood vessel configurations, organ configurations, and whole body plastinates displaying the intricate biology and physiology of some of the world’s most spectacular creatures.
Highlights of plastinates featured in ANIMAL INSIDE OUT include the world’s tallest mammal, the giraffe; and the rarely-seen giant squid; a magnificent bull, with its heart five times the size of a human’s; and a reindeer, with hooves that adapt to the changing seasons. The animals on display are preserved through the anatomical specimen preservation process of plastination, invented by BODY WORLDS creator and anatomist, Dr. Gunther von Hagens.
