Dark Matters

March 21 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

“Dark Matters” is an evening social event at the Planetarium that explores some of the most mysterious questions in the Universe. What is the Universe made of? Why can’t we see most of it? What about black holes and WIMPS and the Large Hadron Collider?

The program begins with an exclusive showing of the Planetarium show, “Phantoms of the Universe”, created by the European Southern Observatories Supernova Planetarium. Produced by the European Southern Observatories Supernova Planetarium and narrated by actress Tilda Swinton (The Chronicles of Narnia, Doctor Strange, The Grand Budapest Hotel), this show explores the international hunt for dark matter.

After the show, Dr. Michelle Boyce from the University of Manitoba’s Department of Physics and Astronomy will present the latest research in the field followed by a Q&A.

7:00 pm – Reception in the Science Gallery
7:45 pm – “Phantom of the Universe” Planetarium Show
8:15 pm – Dr. Michelle Boyce Q + A
