Notes From The Field: When Churchill Was Tropical – Paleontology in Manitoba’s North

July 18 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Event Navigation

Join Curator of Geology and Paleontology Dr. Graham Young for a gallery tour and presentation of his latest research on fossils found near Churchill, Manitoba. Since 2005, Graham has conducted field research at Airport Cove, a unique site containing fossils from about 445 million years ago, when Manitoba had its very own tropical shoreline. This presentation will highlight his most recent work in this area, featuring the discovery of some of the world’s oldest horseshoe crab fossils, other strange and unique arthropods (joint-legged animals), and beautiful feathery seaweeds, and will include a visit to our award-winning, and newly restored Ancient Seas exhibition.

This program includes admission to the Museum Galleries. It does not include admission to BODY WORLDS: Animal Inside Out.
