Brown Bag Lunch Series: Winnipeg and Shoal Lake, 1919

March 6, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Brown Bag Lunch Series: Winnipeg and Shoal Lake, 1919
By: Dr. Adele Perry, Professor of History and Senior Fellow at St. John’s College at the University of MB
Member of the Manitoba Museum Research Advisory Committee

March 6th, WEDNESDAY
12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Free with Admission.

Shoal Lake water first flowed in Winnipeg taps in 1919, the same year as the General Strike. Dr. Adele Perry will place these two historical events into conversation, and draw connections between the dispossession of Indigenous peoples and lands, and urban labour activism and radicalism in twentieth-century Canada.

The stories of the Winnipeg Aqueduct and the 1919 General Strike will both be featured in the new Winnipeg Gallery, opening Fall 2019.
