Algae on Lake Winnipeg
Explore the Manitoba Museum from home with our Virtual Field Trips for Home Learning. With a new theme every session, these online programs are perfect for home learners looking for a fun, curriculum-based experience, for friends looking for an interactive way to spend time together at a distance, and for just about anyone interested in learning more about Manitoba! All are welcome.
Lake Winnipeg has been named internationally as one of the most endangered lakes in the world. It is on the verge of becoming a dead lake within a decade. In this Virtual Field Trip, you will affect change using the Museum’s award-winning Lake Winnipeg: Shared Solutions simulator and learn what the ingredients are for a healthy lake. You’ll explore how humans interact with the lake and the unintended consequences of those actions. You’ll also find out about about the many things you can do to protect and restore Lake Winnipeg.
Can you be a champion of change? Save the Lake! gives you active ways to learn about ecology, chemistry, and limnology through use of the simulation game, visuals, and pre and post workshop activities.
TEACHERS: Interested in booking this program for your class? Contact our Reservations Coordinator at 204-988-9626 or email [email protected]. Or, you can submit a Virtual Field Trip Booking Request Form.
