The World of 3D Printing Workshop

April 15 @ 10:00 am - 3:15 pm

This program is for youth ages 10-17 who must be accompanied by an adult (18+) at all times, and will be expected to participate with the youth in the workshop.

Admission is $150 per youth ($125 for Museum Members). One accompanying adult is admitted free. Limit of 4 youth participants.

Participants will learn how to design 3D models using basic shapes and transform them into 3D printed models. Using a free online designing tool, participants will design a set of constellations and a toy car which they will then be able to use in the science gallery on a future date.

Presenter Fabrice Siaux is an elementary teacher who loves to incorporate technology into his classroom lessons. He has been 3D printing for a year now with his students and is excited to bring his lessons out of the classroom. His newly found passion for 3D printing started when realizing the potential of applying this skill to the real world.

Workshop schedule:

10:00 am: Program begins with short Planetarium show on constellations

10:45 am: Intro to 3D printing and design of constellation trinket

11:45 am: Lunch Break (lunches supplied by participants)

12:30 pm: Self-guided visit to the Science Gallery

1:15 pm: Instruction and design of gravity-fed Race Car

3:15 pm: Workshop concludes

NOTE: Participants must bring their own lunch. The Museum does not have a food service, and will not be supplying lunches. A refrigerator and microwave will be available.
