Saturdays in Space Speaker Series: The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program

June 16, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program – Winnipeg School Division 1 students

Students from Winnipeg recently won a competition to design and built an experiment that is going to space! Hear from the students and teachers involved in the program about what it was like to do real rocket science as part of their high school curriculum.

Dreaming of living in space is part of any childhood, but these students are taking the first steps towards making their dreams reality.

After developing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based experiment and submitting it to the Student Space Experiment Program (SSEP), Students at Wolseley School and Grosvernor School were selected to have their experiments blasted into space.

Once aboard the International Space station, astronauts will conduct their experiments while the students conduct a control experiment in their classrooms.
