Join us on Saturday, March 5 to get an inside scoop in the Earth History Gallery!
Hosted by Graham Young, our Curator of Geology/Paleontology, Manitoba’s Tropical Past is Brought to Life. View ancient marine Manitoba as though it’s a living world. Learn about Ancient Seas – a multi-layered realistic animation, mounted on a huge curved screen that spans 7.5 metres to create the illusion of an undersea observatory. This exhibit depicts the Churchill area of Manitoba 450 million years ago, when it was a tropical coast near the equator. Extinct creatures such as giant cephalopods and trilobites are re-created, based on detailed scientific study of Manitoba fossils.
$5 for Museum Members / $20 for General Public
