The Black Brant Rocket – Ken Kohut
The Black Brant rocket is a little know historic icon of the early rocket age. Designed and built right here in Manitoba by Magellan Aerospace (formerly Bristol Aerospace). These pioneering rockets and their scientific payloads helped unlock the Auroras as the blasted into the sky from the Churchill rocket site. Even after the Canadian Government’s decision to close the launch site, the Black Brant went on to be one of the most widely used sounding rockets around the world. Still in production today, these little rockets that could have a thousand stories to share.
