Workshop: Stargazing With Binoculars

June 15 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on June 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm

Binoculars are an often-overlooked means of exploring the night sky. Besides having uses other than expanding your universe, they are more affordable than telescopes, and easier to use.

Join Planetarium astronomer Scott Young for a 2-hour workshop on how to choose – and use – binoculars for stargazing.

Course topics include:

  • Backyard Astronomy Basics
  • How binoculars (and telescopes) work
  • What can I see in binoculars?
  • Choosing binoculars for astronomy
  • How to find objects in the night sky using binoculars
  • Star Maps and Space Apps – how to find your way around the night sky

All participants will receive downloadable handouts and resources to help them get started in backyard binocular astronomy.

The course is offered in two separate time slots, so sign up for the one that works best for you. Register HERE.

Cost: $20 per device connection ($15 for members)

All courses are offered via Zoom meeting. A digital device and internet connection are required to participate.
