You may be familiar with our “Yuri’s Night” space party, held every April 12th in honor of the first human spaceflight. There are DJs and dancing under the planetarium dome, space programming and a cash bar in the science gallery, and a bunch of adults having fun in the Science Gallery. The event sells out every year well in advance, and we have a limited capacity. So, we’ve decided to run a second event this year, in honor of the first space satellite – Sputnik.
Join us Thursday, October 8th from 7PM to 1AM for the first annual Sputnik Night! DJs Manalogue and Lotek (THE SHAKE) will be headlining the music under the stars, with fulldome visuals and dancing beginning at 10:30PM. We’ll have have special showings of the planetarium show, Dawn of the Space Age – the only night this year when we will run this fulldome program. Relive the glory days of the early space race, from Sputnik to the space station and beyond.
Program highlights:
7:00 PM Doors open; space programming, displays, and cash bar in Science Gallery
7:30 PM Dawn of the Space Age in Planetarium (first showing)
8:30 PM Dawn of the Space Age in Planetarium (first showing)
9:30 PM Dawn of the Space Age in Planetarium (first showing)
10:30 PM THE SHAKE in the Planetarium (with visuals by TBD)
Tickets are $15 and will be available through The Manitoba Museum’s website shortly.
