The invasion of Mars continues.
Last month, three new robotic probes arrived at Mars from Earth, adding to a litany of previous missions already in orbit or on the surface of the Red Planet. In this virtual Planetarium presentation, in partnership with producer Evans & Sutherland, we’ll explore the Martian surface as seen by these robotic “invaders.” We’ll fly over the great chasms, canyons and volcanoes, descend amid the ice of a Martian polar cap and be buffeted by swirling dust devils. Blinded by the planet-wide storms which engulf this world from time to time, we’ll emerge to discover a whole new world which is the red planet Mars.
Join Planetarium Astronomer, Scott Young, as he provides live commentary in the chat while the show is playing on Facebook Live and YouTube Live. Scott will answer your burning questions about Mars and space exploration, update you on the latest images and information coming from the newly-arrived probes, and challenge budding astronauts to design and build an “egg drop lander.”
