Saturdays in Space Speaker Series: Maples Collegiate High Altitude Balloon Challenge

June 23, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Maples Collegiate High Altitude Balloon Challenge – Andrea Misner

Few people ever get to experience seeing the curvature of the Earth’s surface, but a small group of students at Maples Collegiate have done just that. This past April, the students took part in the Global Space Balloon Challenge. They designed, prepared and launched their own payload that got strapped to a high altitude balloon that rose 31,804 m into the atmosphere, just on the edge of space. Come and see snippets of their images and footage and hear about the challenges of launching a balloon to the edge of space and back again.
