Join Planetarium staff and astronomy fans around the world to see the very first images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST)! We’ll watch this live virtual event together, which will connect viewers in Canada, the United States, Europe, and around the world to celebrate the accomplishments of this game-changing space telescope.
The event begins at 9:30 am CT, in the Planetarium theatre on the lower level of the Manitoba Museum. Doors open at 9:15 am. Admission to the event is free but RSVPs are required due to limited capacity. Live views of the image as well as worldwide audience reactions will be broadcast on NASA-TV and online.
Please RSVP to attend by emailing [email protected].
The JWST is the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, which was one of the most successful scientific instruments in the history of scientific discovery. JWST will reveal planets, stars, and galaxies in unprecedented detail and peer back to the very beginnings of the universe. Canada is an important partner in this multinational project, supplying one of the four main scientific instruments as well as the guidance system used to keep the telescope pointed accurately.
