Call for Proposals – THE STRIKE PROJECT: AN ACT OF RESISTANCE

April 3, 2019 - April 22, 2019

Save the date for THE STRIKE PROJECT: AN ACT OF RESISTANCE, an evening of site-specific performances at the Manitoba Museum, created in response to the 100th anniversary of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike.

The call for proposals is now open! We encourage applications from artists of all performance styles, including, but not limited to, live music, stand-up, movement, performance art, drag, spoken word, and interdisciplinary work. Successful applicants will participate in a day-long workshop at the Manitoba Museum, during which they will interact with the Strike 1919 exhibition, museum curators, and experts on the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike. The project will culminate in an evening of performances on Friday June 7th, on-site in the Strike 1919: Divided City exhibition.

Please send applications and/or inquiries to Rachel Erickson at [email protected] and project producer Chimwemwe Undi at [email protected] by April 22nd, 2019.

Please include the following:
• Attach or link an example of recent work: up to 5 pages of writing or up to 5 minutes of performance;
• Write a short paragraph (less than 150 words) on why you think you and/or your work would be well suited to participate in this project.

Successful applicants will be compensated.

Tickets for the June 7th event will be available soon.
