The Manitoba Museum is proud to commemorate Manitoba Day every year! As the province’s museum of history, nature, and science, the Manitoba Museum engages Manitobans with millions of years of our history – from ancient seas to Indigenous homelands, climate concerns to new Canadians.
Join us for a Manitoba Day unlike any other as we celebrate our home and our history. Complete an online scavenger hunt, take part in science activities and virtual tours, celebrate our community with our Diorama Contest, and watch a Planetarium show from the comfort of your home!
All Day • Animal Adventures Scavenger Hunt: Go on virtual tours of the Museum Galleries and complete our Animal Adventure Scavenger Hunt for a chance to win an exciting prize! Click HERE for links to the virtual tours and to download your Scavenger Hunt form.
All Day • NEW Planetarium Show Birth of Planet Earth: How did Earth come to be a life-supporting planet? Where did our Moon come from? This show tells the twisted tale of our planet’s origins. Click HERE to watch Planetarium shows from the comfort of your home.
TBA • Moment in Time Diorama Contest: Stay tuned to social media. Today, we announce the winners of our Diorama Contest! Inspired by our world-renowned dioramas and the Manitoba Museum’s 50th anniversary, this special contest features family, school, and community submissions of your very own homemade dioramas.
1:00 pm • Let’s Talk Energy: Join Mike, our Planetarium & Science Gallery Supervisor, live from the Museum when he’ll show you a huge energy map, and talk about energy and how power works in Manitoba.
2:30 pm • Live Virtual Tour of the Nonsuch: Accompany Alex, a Learning & Engagement Producer, on an exciting virtual tour of one of our favourite artifacts – the Nonsuch!
