This First Friday, the Manitoba Museum will be kicking off our International Women’s Day celebrations! Join us for drop-in “Women, Art & Identity” tours featuring the stories of women artists from Manitoba, including those whose names have been left out of the history books. Join us at our Beading Tables where we will have all the materials you need to work on your own beading project and learn basic beading techniques.
Artist Zephyra Vun will lead a Mindfulness Drawing workshop (pre-registration required) where you will learn technical drawing skills and how to harness your flow. Drawing artifacts and specimens from the Museum’s collections, this class will train your mind to connect to the present moment. We welcome back Barnhammer Brewing to our pop-up pub! General admission applies (available at the door), museum galleries open from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM; everyone welcome.

Join us in the Museum Galleries for a very special drawing class! Not only will you learn technical drawing skills, but also how to harness your flow, the psychological state of being completely present, where intention and intuition are harmoniously balanced, and the mind and body are fully connected. Drawing artifacts and specimens from the Museum’s collections, this class will train your mind to connect to the present moment, to become more comfortable just being with yourself without distraction, and most importantly, to build trust in yourself and your instincts. Drawing (especially the two methods of drawing you will learn in this class) can be deeply meditative and therapeutic. We can learn to apply that same presence and mindfulness in our daily lives..
What you’ll learn:
Architectural Sketching – finding flow: speed, gesture, and trusting yourself!
Journey Drawing – visually manifesting your flow state.
Drawing materials will be provided.
