December 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

We’re heading into the darkest time of the year, at least here in the northern hemisphere – approaching the winter solstice. The solstice has been celebrated (perhaps “dreaded” might be a better word) for thousands of years, and it’s made an impact on our calendar, our holidays, and architecture around the world. It also means long, dark nights for star watching! We’ll cover the constellations visible at this time of the year so you can find your way around.

Plus, a look ahead to the launch of a long-awaited successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, a peek at a solar nursery and other cool space stuff.

[email protected] is a weekly series of FREE virtual programming inviting Manitobans to explore the universe with Planetarium Astronomer Scott Young.

As pioneering Canadian astronomer Helen Sawyer Hogg always said, “The stars belong to everyone.”
