Community Voices: Black History in Canada Virtual Field Trip

February 19 @ 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm

The Railway Porters Union Band of Winnipeg poses here in front of the Bank of Montreal at the corner of Portage Ave. and Main St., May 1, 1922. Foote 291, L.B. Foote Fonds, P7393/4, Archives of Manitoba.

Geared to the Grades 5 and 6 curriculums, our Black History in Canada Virtual Field Trip will be of interest to school classes, homeschoolers, families, or anyone wanting to learn more about Canadian and Manitoba history.

Presented in collaboration with Black History Manitoba, this live, interactive Virtual Field Trip will take a broad historical look at the contributions made and challenges faced by Black communities in Canada. The program highlights individual stories with a Manitoba emphasis. Exploring Canada’s Black History, students will come to better understand and apply the concept of historical significance in their own approach to investigating Canada’s history.

Registration to view this program on Zoom is FREE. This program will also be broadcast on Facebook Live.

Virtual Field Trips take place on Zoom and last approximately 45 minutes. Registrants will receive an email confirmation link with instructions on how to join the Zoom Webinar. One registration is valid for one device.
