Celebrate Earth Day with virtual programs all week long!
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, the Manitoba Museum is hosting a series of virtual field trips related to sustainability, biodiversity and the environment. School classes, homeschoolers, families or any member of the general public are invited to join for free!
Climate change can be a daunting topic as a global issue, and what’s happening in our province often gets lost in the midst. This program, geared towards students in grades 6-12, will give participants an overview of how our climate is changing in Manitoba, especially in our Arctic/Subarctic, Boreal Forest, and Prairies biomes. We also use our Earth History Gallery to demonstrate the differences between natural and human-caused climate change.
As we explore the Museum Galleries, participants will be challenged to think about what those changes mean to the biodiversity of our province, as well as the social, economic, and environmental consequences for Manitobans.
During the program, we also engage participants in thinking about solutions that can be implemented by themselves at the family, school, and community level. Participants will be encouraged to commit to actions that can help combat climate change, and give them hope that, together, positive results can still happen.
Registration for this program is FREE:
April 18 @ 2 pm – Register here
April 20 @ 10 am – Register here
Virtual Field Trips take place on Zoom and last approximately 60 minutes. Registrants will receive an email confirmation link with instructions on how to join the Zoom Webinar. One registration is valid for one device.
