In conjunction with the Canadian Space Society’s (CSS) annual summit being held in Winnipeg on November 14 and 15, the Manitoba Museum Science Gallery is hosting Winnipeg Space Weekend on November 12 & 13, 2016. This celebration of Canadian achievements in space is a joint undertaking with the CSS and is open to the public.
The Boeing Explore Science Zone will introduce visitors to a replica of Sputnik 1, Earth’s first artificial satellite. You’ll also learn about the Black Brandt rocket which was built right here in Winnipeg. And young people, and those young at heart, will enjoy making rockets, creating a Moon base with LEGO bricks and take in art workshops. The Planetarium feature shows include Astronaut and Search for Life.
For those passionate about rockets, Jeffrey Cieszecki, aka Mr Rocket Man, will be at the Science Gallery offering workshops on how to build a ESTES rocket that shoots 800 feet into the sky! You’ll learn how rockets work, how to build your own rocket which you can take home with you and later launch in your own back yard.
For this weekend only, buy one admission to a Planetarium show, and see the rest of our shows for free (based on available seating). Regular admission applies for access to the Science Gallery
