Did you know that only about 1% of a museum’s collections is on exhibition?

Most of a museum’s collections are safeguarded in dedicated collections storage spaces.  As collections grow, we often need to review how we use our collections storage spaces to ensure the long-term preservation of the artifacts and specimens we hold.  In March 2019, the Manitoba Museum was the host venue for the RE-ORG: Canada (Prairies and North) workshop and conference organized by the Canadian Conservation Institute.  With the help of RE-ORG participants, the Manitoba Museum’s Collections and Conservation staff was able to implement a storage reorganization project that improved current conditions and eased the constraints of some of the Museum’s existing storage areas.  Come hear about how we packed it up, and packed it in!
