Presented By: Dr. Diana B. Robson, Curator of Botany and Kevin Brownlee, Curator of Archaeology
Tuesday, February 11, NOON – 1 PM
Do you ever wonder where your food comes from? Few people know that over 60% of the food humans currently eat was originally domesticated by the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. This presentation will provide an overview of the history of plant domestication in the Americas, with a special focus on the crops grown in Manitoba prior to European contact. Traditional Indigenous farming and food preparation methods, as well as, the nature and nutritional value of these foods will be discussed.
Join us as Curator of Botany, Dr. Diana B. Robson and Curator of Archaeology, Kevin Brownlee discuss plant domestication in the Americas by Indigenous peoples.
Attendance to the Brown Bag Lunch Series is included with paid admission to any Museum area – the Museum Galleries, the Science Gallery, or the Planetarium.
