The Manitoba Museum, Planetarium and Science Gallery receive a lot of requests to look at potential meteorites, to help with science fair projects, and to identify various “lights in the sky”. While sometimes time-consuming and often fruitless, these interactions represent a way to inspire visitors to understand the scientific method and good collecting procedures, and learn more about what a museum does. In this presentation, Scott Young, Manager, Planetarium & Science Gallery, will talk about several best practices from other institutions and share some of the (often humorous) stories and objects people bring in.
