Ultimate Dinosaurs, Planetarium, and Museum Galleries

All day experience – $15.00 / student
Suitable for Grades: 2 and up

Reward your students and reward yourself by making the planning of your year end field trip easy by booking our daylong Ultimate Field Trip experience.  This package includes:

60 minute visit to Ultimate Dinosaurs/Formidables Dinosaures – This bilingual exhibit will introduce your students to new and unique dinosaurs from around the world.  The exhibition combines rarely-seen specimens with interactive stations to highlight scientific study of fossils and includes examples of augmented reality technology that transforms full-scale dinosaur skeletons into flesh-covered moving critters right before your eyes! Grade 7 classes will be particularly interested in the section which examines the break-up of supercontinent Pangaea into the continents that we know today and how plate tectonics and the way changing continents affected the evolution of dinosaurs during the Mesozoic Era.

Groups will be greeted by an exhibit host who will provide them with an activity guide taking them to six different interactive stations where they can collect stamps on their quest to become a certified Junior Paleontologist.

Teachers interested in going more in-depth can prepare their students with resources from our TEACHERS GUIDE which contains pre-visit, in-gallery and post-visit activities

45 minute Planetarium Show* – Join us for our current feature show Legends of the Northern Sky.  Embark on a journey with the Indigenous peoples of the western plains of Canada and share in their wisdom conveyed by the stars.

Alongside Ocek, the fisher, and his band of animal friends, audiences take a dangerous expedition south to retrieve summer and return it to the frozen north. To the Plains Cree, Ocek was forever running across the night sky, ensuring the arrival of summer after the cold, perilous winter.

Learn how the great bully, the giant bear Mista Maskwa, was finally tamed by a brave band of birds. This adventure is mapped in the stars as the birds chase Mista Maskwa every night, keeping us safe from his foul temperament.

In Legends of the Northern Sky, we learn a little bit more about the spirit that connects us all.

*Depending on the day and time of your visit, alternative options for your Planetarium show may be available.

Self-guiding in the Museum Galleries – You’ll have unlimited time to explore Manitoba history and nature in our nine galleries.  Plan your visit with your own focus or join us on the quest to find the Museum’s most beautiful beadwork, fantastic fossil, yuckiest animal and more in our ULTIMATE SCAVENGER HUNT.  Can you find them all and help us decide which is the Ultimate??
