Electrifying Science – Science Gallery
30 + 60 minutes – $5.25/student
Includes 60 minutes self-guiding time in the Science Gallery.
Curriculum Target Grade: 6
This program supports the Grade 6 “Electricity” cluster by demonstrating what electricity is and what it can do. Students discover how batteries work and see how electrical and magnetic fields interact by attraction or repulsion. They see how electricity brightens our world! This 90-minute program includes a 30-minute demonstration and 60 minutes of self-guided time in the Science Gallery.
6-3-01 Use appropriate vocabulary related to their investigations of electricity.
Include: positive charge, negative charge, current electricity, static electricity, electrical circuit, insulator, conductor, electromagnet, magnetic field, electrical energy, renewable, non-renewable, energy consumption
6-3-02 Explain the attraction and repulsion of electrostatically charged materials.
6-3-03 Explain current electricity, and compare the characteristics of current and static electricity, by using a model.
6-3-15 Identify the two major sources of electrical energy, and provide examples of each.
