PLANETARIUM OFFERS IN-THEATRE AND VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES

PLANETARIUM OFFERS IN-THEATRE AND
VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES

(Winnipeg, MB, August 20, 2020): The Planetarium at the Manitoba Museum offers both live in-theatre shows and live on-Facebook experiences. The theatre reopened last week and features three shows a day at 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. And on Saturday, August 22, between 9:30 pm and 11 pm, Planetarium Astronomer Scott Young will host a Virtual Planet Party with special guests Jupiter and Saturn.

“Facebook live allows me the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for the night sky and to help people better understand what they are seeing up there. At the Planet Party of Saturday, after exploring the Moon’s terrain, I will introduce the beautiful ringed Saturn and the giant Jupiter, both very visible at this time of year,” says Planetarium Astronomer Scott Young.

For those looking for a full-dome experience, four shows are featured. Zula Patrol: Down to Earth is a show for families with younger children based on the hit PBS television series. Manitoba Skies is a live guided tour of Manitoba’s summer sky with our Planetarium Astronomer. During The Search for Life: Are We Alone? Harrison Ford explores one of the biggest questions in science today. LIFE: A Cosmic Story, told by Jodie Foster, is a documentary about the wonders of life on planet Earth and what other planets tell us about our own.
