Reconnect with Manitoba’s History and Nature this Weekend!
(Winnipeg, MB, June 8, 2020): The Manitoba Museum is excited to announce that the people of Manitoba will soon be able to safely reconnect with Manitoba’s history and nature. Beginning June 13, the Museum’s Galleries will be open to the public on weekends from 11 am to 5 pm.
“We have truly missed all of our visitors and can’t wait to welcome them back to the Museum. We have been bringing history, nature, and science to the community for half a century and look forward to reconnecting with fellow Manitobans,” says Claudette Leclerc, Executive Director & CEO.
The Museum Galleries open first; the Planetarium and Science Gallery remain closed for now. Within the Museum Galleries, high-touch and interactive exhibit elements are accessible to limit visitor contact and, while the Nonsuch Gallery is open, boarding the Nonsuch ship is not possible at this time.
Following government guidelines, new procedures are in place to protect both visitors and staff. Visitors need to enter and exit through the entrance at 190 Rupert Avenue. Everyone is asked to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before arriving at the Museum and to postpone their visit if they are experiencing any symptoms, have traveled recently, or have come in contact with someone sick with COVID-19.
Visitors are encouraged to use touchless payment or purchase tickets online and to download a digital Visitor Map as paper maps will not be available.
Capacity has been reduced, and physically distancing is encouraged with floor markers and signage. Stringent cleaning and sanitization procedures have been put in place, and hand sanitizer and hand washing stations are available throughout the Museum.
For more information about preparing for a visit to the Museum and a complete list of protocols, visitors are encouraged to go to the Plan My Visit page on the Manitoba Museum website.
