There’s Always More to Discover This Summer at the Manitoba Museum

Winnipeg MB (July 10, 2019): The Manitoba Museum presents a full calendar of tours, activities, and events for families, adults, and French-speaking visitors this summer. The Museum is offering tours and activities, free with admission to the Museum Galleries. Hands-on interactive family programs include Awesome Arctic Activates, Amazing Animal Tours, Dino Day, A Family Favourites Tour, and Sketch Nights in Animal Inside Out. Geared for adults but open to children, the Museum offers tours highlighting museum secrets, the Strike 1919: Divided City exhibition, and the fascinating facts about Manitoba’s north. On July 13 at 2 PM, the Museum hosts an adult event – Doing It Together: Making & Raising Offspring – part of the From Talk to Table series. Participants enjoy a tour of Animal Inside Out and a talk by Dr. Jane Waterman of the Behavioural, Ecological & Evolutionary Research Lab, followed by a drink and more conversation at Nonsuch Brewing Co. Dr. Waterman will candidly talk about the differences and similarities between humans and other animals on Earth when it comes to mating and rearing offspring. Tickets are $21 ($16 for Museum members) and are available at the box office or at ManitobaMuseum.ca.

Notes from the Field is a new series sharing exciting research from Museum curators. On July 18 at 7 pm, Dr. Graham Young, Curator of Geology and Paleontology, presents When Churchill was Tropical revealing Paleontology in Manitoba’s North and on August 22, also at 7 pm, Dr. Diana Robson asks What’s That Buzz? and talks about Wild Pollinators and Plants of Manitoba. Tickets are $15 ($10 for Museum members) and are available at the box office or at ManitobaMuseum.ca.

And for kids who simply cannot get enough of the Manitoba Museum, they can spend a week of discovery and adventure at Summer Day Camps enjoying hands-on science and immersive history activities, exploring the universe at the Planetarium, going on field trips, and touring the Body Worlds: Animal Inside Out exhibition!
